Clean Air Act requires Utah to develop a State Implementation Plan (SIP) to bring much of Northern Utah into compliance with the Clean Air Act standard for fine particulate matter (PM 2.5 ). The first step in the process was for the Division of Air Quality to identify emission sources that contribute to the direct release of PM 2.5 and emissions sources of precursors of PM 2.5, primarily volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that, when released into the atmosphere, react to form PM 2.5. That work has been completed. Industrial Baking Ovens: VOC Soil Fuel Burning Devices (wood stoves, fireplaces, outdoor boilers): PM 2.5, VOCs Appliance Pilot Lights: PM 2.5, VOCs Background
