7 Democracy System of Government run by the people, for the people
Citizens are involved in the running of society by electing people who will represent them in government Democracy

8 Democratic Values The beliefs and ideals that are held by our society as a democracy

9 Westminster system Australia’s system of government is based on Westminster system Westminster system is a form of parliamentary government, originating in the UK

10 Justice Fairness or payback??
When people break the law in Australia and are convicted by the courts it is said they have been ‘brought to justice’ Through key principles and procedures (such as right to a fair trial), the legal system encourages the delivery of justice to all citizens Justice

11 Participation The way good citizens contribute to or take part in society Participate in many ways: voting in election or referendum, serving on a jury or paying taxes

12 Rights and responsibilities
Our entitlements and duties as citizens Right – ensure we are able to have a say in the way our country is run and are treated fairly in the process Responsibilities – ensure we contribute to our society in order to keep it going as a strong democracy
