The ACT and SAT test are similar but they are not identical.
In comparison to the ACT, the critical reading section on the SAT emphasizes vocabulary more than reading comprehension.
The ACT is a knowledge based exam that focuses more heavily on curriculum making it more straightforward to study for.
The SAT, however, is based more heavily on reasoning which is beneficial for students who have excellent problem-solving skills.

8. SAT Vs ACT The SAT emphasizes math while the ACT emphasizes science.
Timing and section lengths are similar on both exams.
SAT questions normally require more critical thinking, but the SAT also provides % more time per question.
The SAT Writing & Language and ACT English tests are similar in setup and content. The SAT places more emphasis on rhetoric and has more multifaceted passages, but offers about 33% more time per question when compared to the ACT.
The SAT and ACT Math tests cover similar topics. Still, there are significant differences. The ACT requires basic knowledge of many ideas while the SAT requires a deep knowledge of essential set of ideas, particularly in algebra. The SAT does offer about 38% more time per question than what the ACT does.

The ACT Science section measures interpretation, evaluation, reasoning, analysis, and problem-solving skills. The test uses scientific language and reasoning. It rarely requires any specific knowledge from academic science classes.
The SAT does not have an analog to the ACT Science test.
The ACT essay places emphases on crafting and comparing arguments. The SAT essay emphasizes understanding how arguments are made.
The ACT allows for more creativity, whereas the SAT requires strong analytical reading skills and provides more time to write the essay.
