Standard: ELASE6RL1 – Cite textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.
Learning Targets: Identify claims. Elect your position on these claims. Support your claim with logical reasoning and relevant evidence.

7. Complete Your Outline Step 1: Compose your own thesis.
Step 2: Identify three reasons to support your thesis.
Step 3: Make sure your third reason includes your opposing claim (counterclaim).
Step 4: Identify three pieces of textual evidence for each reason. So you will have 9 pieces of evidence total.
Step 5: Develop your conclusion.

Step 1: Using your graphic organizer, construct your essay in sentence form.
Step 2: After you have written your essay, go back to the “Be sure to:” in the writing task while proof reading your essay. Make sure you check off that you have completed each bullet.
