Fig. 1 STRUCTURE results using the full dataset containing five main continental populations (AFR, EUR, EAS, NAM, OCE) as well as intermediate populations from the Middle East (ME) and Central South Asia (CSA) and the additional set of samples typed for the EUROFORGEN-NOE collaborative study (WA – West-Africans; GER – Germans; IRQ – Iraqis). Panel (a) presents the results from a default analysis using the admixture model with all available data; panel (b) presents the results from an analysis using only data of the five main continental population groups to infer the allele frequencies of putative ancestral clusters and then classifying all individuals based on these ancestral population estimates. The plots were produced with DISTRUCT [5] based on the highest-likelihood run of 10 replicate runs.
