Language Arts – Warm Up 05/18/18
“The Ransom of Red Chief” First, turn in your interview questions you may still have or any letters to a future sixth grader. Then, highlight the vocabulary terms both in the text (they’re bold) and at the bottom of each page where you see their definitions. We will read this story together and annotate as we read.

Essential Questions: Why do we have controversy in society? How do we communicate in order to convince others? Standard: ELASE6L6 – Acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate general academic and domain-specific words and phrases; gather vocabulary knowledge when considering a word or phrase important to comprehension or expression. Learning Targets: Identify claims. Elect your position on these claims. Support your claim with logical reasoning and relevant evidence.

Language Arts – Closing Session 05/18/18
“The Ransom of Red Chief” Answer all of the questions (front and back). This completed packet is due by Monday. Students who finish the packet by Monday will get to watch the movie. Students who do not finish the packet will go to another classroom to finish while we watch the movie.
