Evidenced based curriculum designed to prevent substance use and other problematic behaviors in youth
7 session series for parents and youth
Focused on middle school age youth
10 families per group
Offered in English and Spanish

Screening and Assessment Services
Provides ATOD screening & assessment for youth referred
Referrals from family, school personnel, agency staff, other
Youth determined to need additional service are referred for treatment services (outpatient, generally)

7. ATOD Funding Annual funding: $165,439 77% County General Fund
23% State A&D 70 Grant (via MHASD)
Contracted with Lifeworks NW

8. ATOD Outputs & Outcomes
Strengthening Families
150 families participated
Average age for youth was 11.8 years
90% of participants were youth of color; 82% Latino
86% of families completed the group series
84% of parents and 80% of youth reported they improved in areas such as: offering compliments, setting limits & following through, working together to solve problems (to name a few), after completion of the program

Screening & Assessment
328 youth screened; over 100 received a full assessment
91% of youth assessed as needing treatment were referred and engaged in treatment services

Social and Support Services
Support groups and counseling services

11. SMYS Funding Annual Funding: $109,614 County General Fund
Contracted with Cascadia Behavorial Health (who subcontracts with the QCenter)

12. SMYS Outputs and Outcomes
Technical Assistance Supports
839 SUNSS, agency and community members participated in training
98% reported an increase in knowledge about LGBQT youth, and the ability to apply in their work

13. SMYS Outputs and Outcomes
Social and Support Services
154 youth leadership groups held
Over 2500 youth visited the SMYRC center
31 youth engaged in counseling services
60% of those youth were engaged or re- enrolled in school
