2. Definitions
Base
The foundation of an expression that is raised to a power is known as the base.
Exponent
An exponent represents the number of times an expression is multiplied by itself and is written in superscript.
For example:
In the expression “(5x)2”, 5x is the base and 2 is the exponent.
