North Korea executes top education official

North Korea has executed its top education official, Kim Yong Jin, by firing squad, according to a South Korean government official. Kim was branded "anti-party and a counter-revolutionary member" by the country's State Security Department, after he exercised a "bad attitude" during North Korea's Supreme People's Assembly in June. Executions are widely considered a political tool for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to consolidate his hold on power.

Joe Sutter, who led the engineering team that developed the world's original jumbo jet in the 1960s, died Tuesday at the age of 95. Colin Kaepernick sparked a media firestorm on August 26 when he refused to stand for the national anthem before a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers. It has remained a controversial discussion in the news in recent days. Mohammad al-Adnani, the official spokesman of ISIS and one of its most senior members, has died in Syria. His death marks the highest-profile killing yet of an ISIS member. Selena Gomez is taking time off to deal with issues stemming from her Lupus. "I've discovered that anxiety, panic attacks and depression can be side effects of Lupus, which can present their own challenges," Gomez said in a statement to CNN. "I want to be proactive and focus on maintaining my health and happiness and have decided that the best way forward is to take some time off."
