1. Republicanism A belief that government should be based on the consent of the people. People exercise their power by voting for political representatives

2. Limited Government The principle that require all U.S. citizens including government leaders to obey the law (Including the President)

3. Checks and Balances The ability of each branch of government to exercise checks or controls over the other branches (Designed to prevent one branch of government from getting to powerful)

4. Federalism A system of government where power is shared among the central or federal government and the states.

5. Separation Of Powers The division of basic government roles into branches Executive- carries out the laws/ President or Police Officer Judicial- judges the laws/ A Judge Legislative – creates the laws / Congressman

6. Unlimited vs. Limited Governments
Unlimited governments can do whatever they want and the people can do nothing about it. Example: Nazi party during WWII, or Current North Korean Dictator Limited Governments have to follow the rules set in place by the people. They can not govern any way they please. Example : USA! USA! USA!

7. Popular Sovereignty A government in which the people rule, a system in which the residents vote to decide on an issue.

8. Individual Rights A personal liberty and privilege guaranteed to US citizens by the Bill of Rights. All political power is in the people and all free governments are founded on their authority and instituted on their behalf.

9. Five similarities between the two Constitutions. (SAME)

The governor has more limited powers!
