4 Details Pomona Showgrounds, ph 54852331
Turn left over the rail crossing and the 2nd right into Exhibition St. Trip Leader Robin Aurisch, Mazda BT50, for permits. Camper trailers will have to be left at the start of the trip into the Eastern firebreak as there is no obvious turning area on this track. Camper trailers may also have some difficult entering and leaving the Leisha track.

5 Meet at Pomona Showgrounds 9am Saturday
Meet at Pomona Showgrounds 9am Saturday. Members may choose to camp there Friday night to save the early start and 2 hr morning drive from Brisbane. The route is Cooloola Way, part of the Eastern firebreak, Freshwater Rd, and onto Teewah beach. Trip to the lighthouse and possible side trip over the Leisha Track to Rainbow Bay. The Eastern firebreak is not suitable for trailers as there is nowhere to turn them around. They can be left at the start of the track to be picked up after we retrace our route. The low tide at Teewah beach is midday. After the lighthouse walk we travel back down the beach to our camping spot 200 mtrs south of Little Freshwater Creek. Campers should be self sufficient or can use the toilets/showers 3kms to the north at the Freshwater day use area. This weekend has been chosen as there will be great gutters out the front of our camping spot in the afternoon and following morning for Tailor fishing. The Spring tide is on Monday. The plan is to head back to Tewantin after a stop at the coloured sands. The trip finishes at the ferry. I have surveyed the route and given the shorter days, there is adequate time to fit in the driving. Robin Aurisch
