De-phosphorylation ATP → ADP + Pi → AMP + Pi Energy released with bonds breaking ADP has less energy than ATP (80%) AMP has less energy than ADP (20%) Phosphorylation AMP + Pi → ADP + Pi → ATP

ATP needs to be continually replaced
