2. SESSION 2: AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
By the end of the session you will be able to:
Demonstrate Lifestyle Planning
Understand the cost for different types of lifestyles
Understand and complete a 5-year plan

3. Where do you want to be in 5 years? Where do you think you will be....?
Learners are asked to consider what kind of lifestyle they aspire to have in 5 years time. They should be encouraged to think broadly about the type of lifestyle and possessions they may have. Learners record this on the Handout 1: Lifestyle Activity Sheet under the heading ‘Type’.
Suggest splitting the group into pairs or small groups – friendship groups if this means they will be more honest! – and start to discuss where they want to be.
Following discussion, encourage learners to then complete the costs of their ‘lifestyle’ in the second column. This should start to bring home what their earning power will need to be!

4. Career aspirations What do YOU want to do?
If internet access is available, or other printed resources, learners can start to look at the qualifications and career pathways available to them, recording this on Handout 2.
Handout 3 will help them to start planning towards their own goals and career aspirations.
Handout 4 might help them start thinking about how much occupations earn.

5. Can you afford your lifestyle?
In conclusion, a review and reflect activity.
What have they learnt?
Looking at their own answers, will their chosen career get them the lifestyle they want?
