Physical Change A Change in a substance that does not change its identity Change in state (Solid Liquid Gas) Crush, tear, chop shred, liquefy Malleable- able to be shaped or formed

Chemical Change/Chemical Reaction
A change in which one or more substances combine or break away to form a new substance. New properties are formed. Combustion Oxidation Tarnishing a Precipitate forming Temp change Color Change Production of a gas (bubbles)

Physical Properties A characteristic of a physical property that can be observed without changing into another substance Melting point/Boiling Point Density Luster (reflective property) Freezing point Solubility

Chemical Properties A characteristic of a pure substance that describes its ability to change into a different substance. The substances ability to react to other substances Combustion (ability to burn) Baking (ability to produce gas) Oxidation (ability to rust)
