News and Notes from Ms. Wilton’s Classroom For the Week of: September 18, 2015. Dates to Remember ¨ September 11- Reading Comprehension test (cold read) vocabulary assessment ¨ September 14- Mixed Bags Fundraiser DUE ¨ September 17- Parent orientation Here’s what we are working on! Reading: Characters, Plot, Setting (by same author), character traits, interactive notebook; vocabulary words for the week: share, enjoyed, wonderful, thinning, delighted, company Math: “Make 10 to add”, fact families, part-part-whole diagrams, begin Rocket Math Language: Word study (formerly JCS)- daily structure, think-to-spell, phonogram and word dictation Grammar- plural nouns Contact information Social Studies: Interactive notebook, symbols of America Phone: (conference period: 1:35-2:35) Science: we will be initializing a rotating schedule for science and social studies this year; social studies for 2 weeks then science for 2 weeks vocabulary share enjoyed wonderful thinning delighted * company Teacher’s note What a fantastic week we have had in Planet Wilton! The students have been adjusting back into our school routines very well and have been very enthusiastic about the upcoming school year! This next week we will continue with our vocabulary study along with vocabulary assessment, assessing AR placement using the STAR (not STAAR!) test for AR, and we will be concentrating on really getting our Word Study up and running full speed!. It’s going to be another fun and exciting week in Planet Wilton!
