2 Public Relations is a process.
The building and maintaining of relationships. All the relationships that we create and maintain are PR. Strong relationships are: Ongoing & Consistent Flexible Trustworthy Benefit both NA and public organizations Respectful These are our Core PR Principles of PR in Action

3 PUBLIC RELATIONS Simply means, “ taking care of our relationships” with each other (members), the general public, law enforcement, and addiction professionals.

Some Members Ask or Say; Can We Even Do Public Relations? What is Promotion? Self-support and Public Service Announcements Are We Violating Our Anonymity with Public Relations? Doesn’t Self-Support Mean We Can’t Accept Help From Anyone Outside NA? You Can’t Affiliate with Other Organizations!

6 GETTING STARTED Clarify what services NA can and cannot provide
Make NA members more aware of their role in NA’s public image Remembering our goal is to have the public recognize us as a positive and reliable organization Develop valuable relationships with professionals and the general public

7 Groups, Areas and Regions
THE BASICS When a member gets a request for info, member then passes request onto the PR Committee. There is a role for every member: input, suggestions, feedback and participation are all needed and valued. PLANNING IS KEY Inventory Current Services, Consider Needs of Community, Prioritize, Resources and Take Action, Repeat ASC / RSC SUPPORT PLANNING TOOL Groups, Areas and Regions
