I. Introduction Statistics Botswana
Autonomous body under the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning since April 2012 Operates within the jurisdiction of two (2) key legal instruments - Statistics Act (Cap 17:01) and Census Act (Cap 17:02) Mainly funded by the Government; also assisted by domestic, regional, and international bodies and partners. Performance monitored and overseen by the board. Has two arms in the organizational structure for statistical production; namely the Socio-Economics and Statistical and Technical Operations

Botswana Census, 1971, 1981, 1991, 2001, and 2011 Next census 2021 Botswana population was 2,024,094 from Census Growth rate was 1.9 based on 2011 Census. Projected population is 2,266,857 as at 2017
