Register for the SAT at collegeboard.org Register for the ACT at act.org Males - Register for Selective Service This must be done within 30 days of your 18th birthday to be eligible for financial aid! Register at If you fill out the FAFSA, you are automatically registered Make a list of all activities and awards you have received Make a resume (you need one for Career Development anyway!) Narrow your lists of colleges to 3-5 Typically a Reach school, Target school, and Safety school Visit College Campuses

Types of financial aid Scholarships Grants Federal Work Study
Money you do NOT have to pay back Awarded based on grades, interests, awards, etc. May or may not depend on financial need May be awarded through private or public programs or directly from a college Grants Awarded based on financial need Federal Work Study Money from the government to work during college. Based on financial need. Student loans For federal student loans you must fill out the FAFSA Low interest rates and payback is deferred until 6 months after graduation from college

FAFSA is required to receive: Federal Grants Oregon Promise Federal student loans Work Study Some scholarships ORSAA: required for most things above, except federal loans Must be filled out every year you are in college

Work on any credit recovery you need. Apply to more scholarships! Meet with Mrs Fields if you are needing help with next steps. Go through Career Credit course.

Decision letters will come from colleges! Share your decision with us at HOA! We like to know where you’re going! Financial aid letters arrive - compare packages Decision Day - May 1 Most 4-year colleges require confirmation and initial deposit

Do your Senior Survey! Make sure to check your regularly for any notifications from colleges and scholarships Stay on top of your classes! Don’t let Senioritis sink in!!!

GRADUATE!!! Register for classes Look for a place to live (if moving out) Make a budget Make sure you have health insurance (through your college, parents, or your own policy). Open up your own bank account if you don’t already have one. Spend time with your family - life is about to change!
