5.6 Inequalities in Two ∆s Mrs. vazquez Geometry
2
g-Co.2.7, 3.10 Essential Question:
How do ∆ side measures relate with its opposite ∡? Objective: Students will inequalities to compare two ∆s.
3
Hinge Theorem If two sides of one ∆ are ≅ to two sides of another ∆, and the included ∡ of the first is larger than the included ∡ of the second, then the third side of the first is longer than the third side of the second. If AB≅DE and AC≅DF, and m∡A > m∡D, then BC > EF.

Converse of Hinge Theorem
If two sides of one ∆ are ≅ to two sides of another ∆, and the third side of the first is longer than the third side of the second, then the included ∡ of the first is larger than the included ∡ of the second. If AB≅DE and AC≅DF, and BC > EF, then m∡A > m∡D.

If PR=PS and m∡QPR > m∡QPS, which is longer, SQ or RQ?
If PR=PS and RQ < SQ, which is larger, ∡RPQ or∡SPQ? P S R Q
