Scottish Executive & Rural Affairs Northern Ireland Welsh Assembly Government SEPA Environment Agency Environment & Heritage Service Scottish Natural Heritage Northern Ireland Natural England, CCW UK Technical Advisory Group & UK Economics Steering Group Within the UK DEFRA set up an Implementation Steering Group. This group has representation from relevant government departments and was responsible for transcribing the Directive into UK law. The DEFRA implementation steering group was also responsible for developing the consultation documents associated with transposing the Directive. A UK technical advisory group was established to supply the ISG and devolved governments with a common UK understanding and technical interpretation of the Directive and to produce technical position papers with regard to implementation of the Directive in the UK. This group is supported by a network of new and existing technical groups. Co-ordination of technical and economic advice for UK administrations
