1 TAG QUESTION A taq question is a question added at the end of a sentence. Speakers use it chiefly to make sure that their information is correct or to seek agreement.

2 The Rule of Tag Questions
If the statement is positive, the question tag is negative (+), (-)? You are a student, aren’t you? If the statement is negative, the question tag is positive (-), (+)? Eva does not like swimming, does she?

3 If the statement use “to be”
(is, am, are, was, were) - The book is expensive, isn’t it? - Your mother was at the market yesterday, wasn’t she? - The boys were there, weren’t they?

4 Modal : can, could, will, would, may, might, shall, should, must,
if the statement use “modal” Modal : can, could, will, would, may, might, shall, should, must, - You can swim, can’t you? - They will come here, won’t they? - The boys mustn't join the contest, must they?

5 If the statement use “auxiliary have/has”
- They have eaten, haven't they? - She has gone, hasn’t she? - You haven’t finished it yet, have you?

6 If the statement do not use “to be, modal or aux have/has” so it needs auxialary verb : “do/does, did” - You like apples, don’t you? - Anita goes early every morning, doesn’t she? - Vita visited you, didn’t she?

7 Exception This is your book, isn’t it? These are yours, aren’t they?
There is a meeting tonight, isn’t there? Everything is OK, isn’t it? Everyone took the test, didn’t they? I am invited , aren’t I? I am not the only one, am I?

8 If the statement has negative meaning,
The form of Question tag is positive. - Nothing is wrong, is it? - Nobody called you, did they? - You have never been here before, have you?

9 Command, prohibition, and request statement . - Let’s go there, shall we? - Open the door, will you? - Don’t say that again, will you?

10 Heru : The English teacher gave a quiz this morning.
