11 ABC System ABsolute Comfort System. A new idea which can give the right answer to every kind of need: No minimum request. No matter about the flow rate, hot water always at the tap No waste. 40 l tanks are used in a full way, the warm you require is the warm the boiler produces Variable system. The working principle changes in according to the real flow request, to supply all the water you need, at the temperature you wish No cold water. In case of long request, if the two tanks are empty, boiler starts working in instantaneous mode. No waiting. Minimum re-warming time: in 5 min the 40 l of hot water are already available Simple, Essential, Absolute The New Ariston Comfort

12 ABC System – Working principles
When there is one DHW request, the DHW pump is powered. So one flow is created between the 2 tanks and the plate heat exchanger. The heat exchange between the primary and the secondary circuit is made by the plate heat exchanger. One stratification system is used inside the 2 storage tanks to have the best compromising in DHW.

13 ABC System – DHW pump ►The DHW pump creates the flow between the storage tanks and the plate heat exchanger. ►In all cases, when it is powered, an intermittent control mode can be used (PWM) to obtain the correct temperature of the water at the outlet of the plate heat exchanger when the power calculated is higher than the maximum output of the burner. ►A calculation is made as a percentage of the functioning time and the pump power supply passes from ON to OFF over an interval of 3 seconds (example: for a percentage of 40% the pump is powered for 1.2 seconds and is switched off for 1.8 seconds). If the pump is not powered for a period of 24 hours an anti-blocking cycle is activated.

14 ABC System – Tanks Capacity : 20 litres by tank
2 storage stainless steel tanks fitted in serial : Capacity : 20 litres by tank h : 800 mm D : 180 mm Weight : 8,6 kg

15 ABC System – Storage Rewarming, heating mode
The main storage tank probe NTCT gives the ignition order for heating the storage tanks when its value is 10°C lower with respect to the DHW set-point. The letter “b” is shown on the display. The burner ignition cycle is activated. The DHW pump is powered when the temperature read by the probe NTC1 is the same as the DHW set-point temperature - 5°C; the heated water is made to circulate through the plate heat exchanger then in the main storage tank and then the auxiliary storage tank. Burner adjustment is managed by the DHW probe NTCS at the plate heat exchanger outlet. The burner switches off definitively when the temperature read by the storage tank probe NTCT is the same as the set-point temperature.

16 ABC System – Flow rate from 1,6 to 4 l/min, pump off
When the DHW circulation value read by the flow switch is between 1.6 and 4 l/min and the temperature of the storage tank is higher than the set-point - 4°C, the DHW pump is off. The cold water enters the auxiliary storage tank as long as the valve positioned after the pump is closed. The hot water withdrawn comes from the main storage tank. This configuration allows to prevent the introduction of cold water directly into the main storage tank. The letter “O” is shown on the display. In this way the total capacity of the storage tanks is used without consuming energy.

17 ABC System – Flow rate from 1,6 to 4 l/min, with DHW request
When the T° read by the storage tank probe NTCT is 4°C lower than the DHW set-point, a DHW request is activated. The letter “b” is shown on the display. The DHW pump is powered when the temperature read by the probe NTC1 is the same as the DHW set-point temperature - 5°C. The valve opens and circulation in the plant is 9 l/min (DHW pump circulation), the DHW coming from the plate heat exchanger circulates partly in the main storage tank and powers the withdrawal point and filling of the auxiliary storage tank. Because the circulation of the DHW pump (9 l/min) is higher than withdrawal circulation, a source of hot water moves from the auxiliary storage tank towards the main storage tank. When this hot source reaches the storage tank probe NTCT, the DHW request is interrupted and goes back to functioning cycle with pump off

18 ABC System – Flow rate from 4 to 9 l/min
When the DHW circulation value read by the flow switch is greater than 4 l/min, a DHW request is activated. The letter “d” is shown on the display. The DHW pump is powered when the temperature read by the probe NTC1 is the same as the DHW set-point temperature - 5°C. The valve opens and the DHW coming from the plate heat exchanger partly circulates in the main storage tank and powers the withdrawal point. Because the circulation of the domestic hot water pump (9 l/min) is higher than withdrawal circulation, a source of hot water moves from the auxiliary storage tank towards the main storage tank.

19 ABC System – Flow rate from 4 to 9 l/min
When the DHW circulation value read by the flow switch is greater than 9 l/min, a DHW request is activated. The withdrawal circulation escapes from the plate heat exchanger and the main storage tank at the same time. Because the withdrawal circulation is higher than DHW pump circulation, a source of cold water moves from the auxiliary storage tank towards the main storage tank. When this cold source reaches the storage tank probe NTCT, the DHW set-point is calculated again to compensate the temperature loss in the storage tank.

24 ABC System – heat recovery function
Upon completing an operation cycle in heating mode, the 3 way valve is set to DHW position; the pump is fed with a view at recovering calorific values from the primary circuit and to transfer this heat into the DHW reserve tank. Transfer of heat from the reserve tank can take even 150 minutes. This operating step is possible provided that these 3 conditions are combined together : Primary return sensor NTC2 > sDHW reserve tank sensor NTCt + 5°C DHW reserve sensor NTCt < 65°C DHW reserve sensor NTCt < set point T° +10°C

25 Anti-legionella Function
This function is activated with parameter 3 20 The storage tanks undergo a heating cycle in “Anti-legionella” mode if the temperature read by the storage tank probe NTCT is lower than 59°C for a period of 100 hours. The cycle is interrupted when the value of the NTCT probe is equal to 65°C. However the temperature in the storage tank is kept between 65 and 59°C for the next 30 minutes. During this cycle a "led" is flashing.

26 Anti-freezing Function
Protection of the primary circuit If the temperature detected by the primary flow probe NTC1 is between 3 and 8°C, the primary circuit pump is powered and the 3W-V is taken alternately to central heating and domestic hot water modes. If the temperature is still below 8°C after 20 minutes, the burner ignites at minimum power. Protection of the domestic hot water circuit If the temperature read by the storage tank sensor NTCT is lower than 10°C. In this case the 2 pumps are powered at maximum speed and then the burner switches on. The anti-freeze function switches off when the temperature read by the storage tank probe NTCT is higher than 15°C If the temperature read by the domestic hot water probe NTCS is lower than 5°C, the domestic hot water pump is powered for 1 minute.
