How to read Just do it! Read through others’ eyes: where are the red flags? Look for themes in text comments Try your hardest not to take them personally Seek perspective from experienced colleagues who are strong teachers

What to do next Be sure you address what is evaluated
Look for actionable & important items e.g. if multiple students can’t hear you, use appropriate technology AND ask if you are audible Be sure you address what is evaluated e.g. clearly state class-by-class objectives Note the changes/improvements you are making Gather more/other data Chair or peer observation mid-semester or instant student feedback

Keep in mind…. Quantitative courses tend to get lower, less skewed, more normally distributed ratings Faculty gender also impacts student ratings (see Ben Schmidt’s interactive table) Developing as a teacher is an iterative process; it’s likely to take multiple cycles of feedback & change to achieve improvements
