CARTESIAN CO-ORDINATES
Why do we need co-ordinates?
Co-ordinates are used in mathematics to describe the position of a point.
The common system of co-ordinates uses are cartesian co-ordinates which are normally referred to as rectangular co-ordinates.
They are called Cartesian because the idea was developed by the French mathematician and philosopher René Descartes who was also known as Cartesius.
