5. The GSHA-DfE Memorandum of Understanding
GSHA schools have agreed with the government to do the following: A.
Continue to promote to their member schools, and support them in implementing priority for pupils eligible for pupil premium funding in their admissions oversubscription criteria (after looked after and previously looked after children, as mandated by the School Admissions Code) and consider how best to publicise this. B.
Support member schools to design admission arrangements which increase access to their schools for disadvantaged pupils. C.
Undertake outreach with primary schools to increase the number of applications and admissions of disadvantaged pupils to selective schools. This should be targeted at more disadvantaged areas and designed to address local circumstances and barriers.

6. Current consultation: 18th March to 15th April 2019
Core proposals:
Cranbrook School to admit 90 Year 7 pupils annually from September 2021, to be accommodated in three forms of entry (i.e. Year 7 PAN of 90).
Cranbrook School to seek to expand its Key Stage 3 teaching facilities by the addition of a new, purpose-built teaching block.

7. The rationale for the proposed plan
Improved access to a local grammar school for Year 7 age pupils from local primary schools.
Improved access to a local grammar school for pupils with a social need as defined by our Admissions Policy and in the Schools Admission Code 2014, or who are defined as Pupil Premium.
3. Improved access to a local grammar school which is co-educational from Year 7 to Year 13.
Improve awareness of the 11+ examination process through familiarisation sessions organised by Cranbrook School staff.  
Improved partnership working between ourselves and local primary and secondary schools
6. Improved Key Stage 3 teaching facilities for local grammar assessed pupils at Cranbrook  

8. Fair Access - what we have already done
Change of Age Range for boarding from Y9 to Y7 entry.
Partnership with Royal Springboard to enable applications from disadvantaged pupils for boarding at the rate of 1-2 per year.
Waive requirement to pass all three batteries of the Kent 11+ test (VR/NVR, English, Maths) if the overall aggregate score is above the benchmark for grammar-assessed pupils for a set number of Pupil Premium pupils only.
