Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
All college bound students should complete
Complete only for school year
Will need parents help/input
Submit between January 1 – March 2, 2014
This application will allow you to be considered for:
Federal Grants – free money for college
State Grants – free money for college
Work Study Programs – earn money to pay for college
Loans – money to help cover college costs, but you must repay
Consideration for other campus based aid – grants, scholarships, etc.

4. FAFSA process 2014-2015 Application
Determine which parent will help you complete the FAFSA
Request a PIN number for you and one parent – Save to use when submitting FAFSA online.
Gather 2013 tax information (Estimates ok initially)
Locate your Social Security Card, you must report your name on the FAFSA exactly as it appears on your card.
Turn in the GPA Release Form to Mrs. Hannigan so you can also be considered for a Cal Grant award.
Complete the FAFSA online. You may be able to access it online in December but cannot submit until January 1 or later
Attend the FAFSA Workshop at Liberty High on Monday, January 21. Get assistance with the application and be entered to win $1000 for submitting the FAFSA.
Complete and submit the FAFSA by March 2, 2014!
You will need to submit the FAFSA each year between January 1-March 2 while you are attending college!

5. Scholarships – www.fastweb.com
SEARCH and APPLY!!! Opportunities are year round Deadlines vary There are opportunities for everyone Where to look: The college you have applied to and plan to attend, check their scholarship/financial aid webpage Online – or google search ‘scholarships’ Community, banks, clubs, employers, organizations, unions, etc. Local Scholarship Program for Liberty High Grads – February 2014

6. Scholarships Review requirements for each scholarship opportunity
Apply for all that you meet the minimum requirements for
Things that may be required along with your application
Letters of recommendation
Essay, response, or personal statement
List of awards, activities, accomplishments
List of work experience, community service
Samples of work or copies of awards
Search and apply for scholarships continually throughout this year and your years in college.
