Read the paragraph below and find examples of metaphor, simile, onomatopoeia, personification, oxymoron and/or alliteration.
Like a detective, I searched the nursing home corridors until I saw him in a wheelchair by the open window. His eyes were pools of blue staring out at the first rays of sunshine tiptoeing through the garden. I brushed my fingers through his snow white hair and kissed his forehead. “Hi, Grandpa,” I said. There was a deafening silence as there was every morning. Time ticked by as I talked to him and told him about my week. It was a one-sided conversation. I often wished we had spoken more before he had poor health.
I held his hand and hoped that he knew I was there.

Now, let’s read! I’m going to read Chapter Four to the class. As I do so, make sure you’re paying attention. Feel free to take notes and/or doodle – whatever it is you need to do to make sure you process the story. 

7. TKAM: Chapter 8-9 For the rest of class, you have three jobs:
Finish the Chapter 8 study questions. Make sure you use the same page as the Chapter 7 questions – they’re part of the same assignment.
Begin your homework: Read Chapter 9 on your own, with a group, or with a partner.
Continue your homework: Complete the Chapter 9 Study Questions individually. Don’t forget to get a new sheet of paper for these questions with a new header. The assignment title is “TKAM: Chapter 9-10”
