4 Treaty of Versailles How did the Treaty of Versailles affect Germany?
They had to give up ALL of their territorial gains from during the War, as well as all of their colonies around the world. They had to pay reparations (money to repair or fix) to the Allies for damages during the war. These reparations were extremely expensive, so much that Germany went into debt to the Allies to pay them. They were charged interest. They had to cut the size of their military significantly, so they had a very very very small army/ navy. And they weren’t allowed to import weapons, and were solely responsible for cleaning up any mines on the battlefields (very dangerous work) Admit guilt for the entire war How did the Treaty of Versailles affect France? France and the other Allies were given land and responsibility to govern the ex-German territories as the League of Nations All territory lost to Germany and any territory sought from Germany (Alsace-Lorraine in particular) was returned/ given to France How did the Treaty of Versailles affect Austria-Hungary? It was split into Austria and Hungary and Czechoslovakia as separate countries No more monarchy How did the Treaty of Versailles affect the Ottoman Empire? It fell apart, and was broken into various Allied possessions and modern Turkey
