- “Eye-opener” lesson for parents/educators - Discusses drug and alcohol abuse, gang membership, teenage pregnancy, teenage depression, teenage suicide, and other relevant issues. - Your children will tell you what you don’t want to hear, it’s not about being right all the time - Three techniques for effective communication: Help me understand…. Listing family goals help us understand why we are not reaching them.
Families recover from difficult situations when they feel a “togetherness”, each member is important, community support, a sense of control

Each ball represents a different “life situation”
1. kids 2. job 3. school 4. partner 5. something big (?)
Group starts out tossing one ball to each other, then add another ball, and then another to show how hectic life can get and why we need a support team and realize we can’t and shouldn’t be expected to do everything on our own.
