8 Understanding GPA 1 of the 3 Main Considerations for College Admissions
Numeric Average: 0-100 Grading scale: Weight for Honors and AP = +7 points, only if passed All grades go on your transcript Numeric average is on transcript Failed courses can be made up in several ways but the failing grade never goes away. A = 90 – 100 C = 70 – 79 B = 80 – 89 F = 0 – 69

9 HOPE GPA HOPE covers a large portion of tuition for degree programs at Georgia public colleges, also awarded at private colleges but the percentage of tuition is much lower Must finish with a minimum 3.0 GPA in core academic courses Zell covers 100% of tuition Must finish with a minimum 3.7 GPA in core academic courses HOPE Grant covers a large portion of tuition for certificate/diploma programs No GPA minimum Does not cover fees HOPE/Zell subtract the 7 honors points we add to Honors/AP/Dual Enrollment. Then add 0.5 weight to AP/Dual Enrollment classes only (not Honors) Academic electives not required for graduation still count towards HOPE/Zell GPA (examples: Spanish 3, Sociology., etc.) Check your HOPE/Zell GPA by creating an account on GAFutures.org
