1 Student Leadership at Wellsway
Green Team (DSG) All year groups Raise awareness of sustainability in school. Maintains conservation area. Debate Club All year groups Led by sixth form students Students meet weekly to debate current issues. House Council (NLV) All year groups An elected representative from each tutor group, in every House, attends bi-termly meetings to discuss school improvements. Anti-Bullying Ambassadors All year groups Students were elected by their House Councils. The group attended Anti-Bullying training. Students to raise awareness of bullying and support peers. Wellbeing Group (JUR) All year groups The group meets every fortnight to discuss wellbeing issues that students at Wellsway face and strategies to raise awareness. Challenge Leaders (AKR) All year groups Self-elected students who support enrichment for HAPS. ETeam (Equalities Group) All year groups Students run sessions for targeted Y7 students who are finding transition difficult. 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 Y7 Leadership Opportunities (RBR) Y7 students to support Y10 Buddy training Y11 House Leaders (NLV) Students appointed through an application and interview process. Students support Y7 transition, school events (e.g. Open Evening) leading House Council meetings and supporting other students led groups. Y13 Head Students and Leadership Committee (MSH) Students are selected through hustings and represent the school during events (Open Evening, WMAT Conference etc.) Y7-9 Sports Ambassadors (REV) Students support transition sports events. Y10 Sports Leaders (REV) Students to support the PE department to organise and execute Inter-House competitions, including Sports Day, Y8 Student Support Helpers (JLD) Students act as helper for student support, welcoming visitors and delivering messages to help develop independence and confidence. Duke of Edinburgh (DSG) Bronze (Y9) and Silver(Y10) Students to independently plan, organise and complete volunteering, skills projects and expeditions. Y10 Buddies (RBR) Students to partake in training to support Y7 students through transition. Y11 Prom Committee (BTR) Self-elected Y11 students to arrange Leaver’s celebrations, including: Hoodies, Yearbook, Leaver’s Day and Prom evening.
