Library Notices Please pass out library notices.
These notices include textbooks you have checked out. If they have not been renewed and you still need them, come renew them ASAP. If you have a textbook from a class you took last semester or after a schedule change, be sure to return it ASAP. Overdue textbooks are considered lost after 20 days, and you will be fined for the price of the book. Returning or renewing it will clear the fine. Reminder: All fines are now paid at the Bookkeeper’s Office Fines must be paid in full to buy prom tickets

Introduction to SHS High School and Beyond Plan
Washington state requires ALL Seniors to present a “High School and Beyond Plan” High School and Beyond Plan’s can look different in each school district. WHAT’S REQUIRED AT STEILACOOM HIGH SCHOOL? PRESENTATION: At SHS, the High School and Beyond Plan is a formal presentation to showcase your journey in high school and your plan after graduation. CAREER CRUISING: At SHS, the High School and Beyond Plan requires 100% completion of Career Cruising.

SHS High School and Beyond Plan – Presentation Details
Every SENIOR is required to present a formal presentation to their Advisory teacher during spring conference week. In order to graduate from SHS and ‘walk’ during the commencement ceremonies, Seniors must meet a competency rating score of 31 or higher (total possible is 44) in the presentation. The minimum pass rate is 70%. The presentation is about you. You can invite Parents/guardians, community members, and individuals who have impacted your life. You will have a maximum of 12 minutes to present your High School and Beyond Plan presentation. Your Senior English teacher will provide you with guidance and time in class to work on your High School and Beyond Plan. Some English teachers have already introduced the presentation.

SHS High School and Beyond Plan – Career Cruising Details
In order to graduate from SHS and ‘walk’ during the commencement ceremonies, Seniors must fully complete Career Cruising. You must reach100% completion. Mrs. Wortman, Career Center Counselor can help you with your login/password if you need help. Mrs. Wortman will host open computer lab time for you to work on Career Cruising. Listen for open lab times during morning announcements. It’s up to you to complete Career Cruising and get the help you need. You will not have time to finish Career Cruising in English class. If you are new to SHS this year, please make an appointment to see Mrs. Wortman.

High School and Beyond Plan Template
On the next slides, you will find the template for the High School and Beyond Plan. It is your responsibility to modify the template and make it yours. Add photos, graphics, change the font, change the slide design, etc.

1. List bullet points outlining your One Year Plan—what you will do for one year after high school. 2. Include employment, college, technical college, apprenticeship or military plans. 3. Explain the details of where you will go to school, where you will work, where you will live, etc.

High School and Beyond Plan - Presentation Assessment Rubric
Graduation requires every student to earn a total score of competent or higher. The least amount of points possible for competency is 31. The presenter will be scored the following values: Non-attempt The presenter did not attempt or omitted this content or skill. Inadequate 1 The content or skill has failed to meet the minimum requirement. It demonstrates sloppiness in content, skill and process. The work has failed to achieve the basic standard necessary to fulfill requirements. Competent 2 Average work has been done but, nothing extra. There is little of the individual invested in the work beyond completing the project on time and achieving an acceptable standard of quality. Exceptional 3 The presenter demonstrates work far above average and displays a substantial investment on the part of the presenter to achieve work of the highest quality. Insight, thought and care are demonstrated in every respect: content, format, skill, process etc.

This is the grading rubric that will be used for your presentation. Please read the rubric carefully. Please take notice of the “Slides Overall” and “Delivery” sections. To pass, you must earn 31 or more points.

Senior Presentation Scheduling
If you and your Advisor are ready, please begin the scheduling process for your High School and Beyond Plan presentation. Please invite your parent/guardian. School-wide, presentation times are as follows (but Advisors can modify times): Wednesday, April 1st from 12:00-2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2rd from 12:00 – 7:00 p.m. Time slots are every 15 minutes, with 12 minutes maximum for the presentation.
