The man on the previous slide is Howard Gardner. Dr. Gardner is best known for his theory of Multiple Intelligence. Create a KWL chart about what you Know about Multiple Intelligence, What you Want to learn and at the end of this module, write down your thoughts about what you Learned about Multiple Intelligences. Students will create a KWL chart to list what they know, want to know and finally what they learned about Multiple Intelligences.

The purpose of this learning center is for Education and Training students to be introduced to the concept of learning styles. By using this tool students can get a feel for their own learning styles and preferences. 5 Theory of Multiple Intelligence
Click here to view an interview with Howard Gardner. Use headphones. After watching the interview, in your own words explain the theory of multiple intelligence. Record your words. You can create a podcast, Flip Video, or use iMovie on your computer. Click here to view video clip of the Key Learning Community in Indianapolis. Use Headphones. After viewing, reflect on the grading system used. Create a chart using symbols and explain your rationale. In your own words, describe your thoughts on the Key Learning Center. Write your observations on your wikispace under the heading Differentiated Instruction. These three activities will give students a good overview of Howard Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligence. Students will view an actual interview featuring Gardner. They will then make a recording of their own interpretation of what Multiple Intelligences are. The 4th grade teacher does a great job with multiple intelligences in her classroom. Students are asked to observe the video and write about their observations.

Click here to take a quiz on Learning Styles. When you finish the quiz, print your results. What are your two strongest learning preferences? Describe your favorite lesson ever at school. Why do you think you remember it? Class discussion. This activity takes the students to a quiz that will evaluate their own learning styles. When finished they will print their learning styles preferences and evaluate their own preferences. Students will discuss in class their favorite lesson ever in school. Knowing what they know now, why do they remember it? How big an influence are learning preferences to student engagement?

Select your main learning preferences then search the website (linked below) for a suitable activity for your learning preferences. This should be something that would be appropriate for your site school grade level classroom and an activity you could teach your students. Scroll over the link to the Discovery Education website.
