How to Make a Seam Pocket
1. Cut out two pocket ‘bag’ pieces from your fabric – see template. Make sure it is big enough to fit your hand and there is enough room for seam allowance.
2
2. Mark where you want your pocket to be.
3
3. Take one of your pocket pieces and place, right sides together onto your fabric/garment – the straight side of your pocket should be against the seam edge of your fabric. Repeat with the other pocket piece on the other piece of your garment/fabric.
4
4. Stitch the pockets into place with a straight stitch – use quite a small seam allowance so the pocket can’t be seen.
5
5. Place the right sides of your pockets and fabric together (lining them up so that they match) – pin into place. Sew the side seam as usual, following around the curve of the pocket in a continuous line.
6
6. Turn the pocket the right way round and press into place.
