Process of geographical inquiry using the Geography K-10 syllabus geographical information Acquiring Processing Communicating Step 1 Question Use geographical language to ask a question about the world around you. Step 2 Research Identify, locate and gather data and information that you need to answer your question from a variety of sources. Reflect on the validity and appropriateness of information gathered. Analyse Record information. Observe. Interpret the data into maps, tables and graphs. Look for geographical trends, patterns and relationships. Step 3 Process Synthesise information to begin to develop an informed observation, argument or opinion. Evaluate Select and use appropriate methods to examine and present geographical information. Make generalisations about what the patterns and relationships mean with respect to your question. Draw conclusions. Step 4 Communicate Present geographical information in the form of oral and/or written reports, based on informed observations, arguments and opinions, for response and/or action. Reflect on the geographical inquiry process
