Year 10 GCSE Science Revision
Mon 21st May Tues 22nd May Weds 23rd May Thurs 24th May Fri 25th May Sat 26th May Sun 27th May Science Mock Exams Chem – LOOK, COVER, WRITE CHECK – learn the definitions of element compound and mixture (10 mins) Phys – Draw up a table of the physical quantities in the equation sheet. Headings – Name; Symbol; Unit. (10 mins) Write out every equation rearranged so that each of the quantities is the subject. (20 mins) Chem – make a poster of the 4 separation techniques (filtration distillation, evaporation, chromatography) (20 mins) Biol – Create an info poster on cells. Include all the parts and functions of animal and plant cells. Also mention levels of organisation. (40mins) Biol – Draw up a table of specialised cells. Headings: Cell, Adaption, function. (20mins) Phys – Write out a method to investigate how current changes with voltage for a component. Draw the circuit diagram for a resistor; bulb and diode. (10 mins) Practise constructing series and parallel circuits using: (30 mins) Chem – create a mind map on chemical reactions include how to spot them, what happens to atoms and key words reactants and products (10 mins) Phys – Make a poster about the electromagnetic spectrum to include the similarities of each; the differences in wavelength, frequency and energy of each; the dangers of short wavelength parts and the uses for communication of the long wavelength parts. (50 mins) Chem – go to revise the notes and then take test on atomic structure. (20 mins) Biol – (40mins) Make revision notes on Food chains, webs, pyramids and the energy efficiency through the trophic levels. Ensure you learn the definitions of keywords. Biol – Enzymes: watch video: Write 20 questions to go with video. (20mins) Phys – make a mind map about how we generate electricity. It should include pros and cons of non renewables as well as renewables; how a fuel based power station works and the components of the national grid. (30 mins) Mon 28th May Tues 29th May Weds 30th May Thurs 31st May Fri 1st June Sat 2nd June Sun 3rd June Chem – Create a fact sheet on group 7, include reactivity, displacement, halide tests and uses (20 mins) Biol: Do Test on Cells and membranes: (10mins) Phys – Watch video at – make a list of the 10 key revision points from the video. Chem – Create a fact sheet on group 1, include reactivity with water and oxygen(20 mins) Biol – Transport in living things: Do test at end. (40mins) Biol – Look at enzyme questions from Sunday. Can you answer them? (10mins) Phys – Complete mock paper (50mins) Chem – LOOK, COVER, WRITE CHECK flame test colours and tests for oxygen, hydrogen and carbon dioxide (10 mins) Phys – Go to – making sure you practise how to work out density. (10 mins) New topic: check out ecosytems: (30mins) Chem – Go to revise the info on the periodic table and take the test (10 mins) Biol – Fold a sheet of paper in half. On one side write notes on Aerobic respiration, on the other anaerobic. 6 marker: Compare and contrast aerobic and anaerobic respiration. Biol – Complete mock paper(50mins) Phys – LOOK COVER WRITE CHECK: The functions of live; neutral; earth wires; fuses; mcb’s; rccb’s. (10 mins) Chem –Go to follow the links to revise water hardness. Phys – Go to to revise and test on the features of waves. (20 mins) Test on Ecosystems: (10 mins) Mon 4th June Tues 5th June Weds 6th June Thurs 7th June Fri 8th June Sat 9th June Sun 10th June Chem – Make a mind map on water, include pollutants, its composition, purification, desalination. (20 mins) LOOK COVER WRITE CHECK solubility key works from revision notes. (10 mins) Flow diagram or cartoon strip of digestion. Mention all organs functions and enzymes. Biol – Watch video on structure of lungs. Try quick quiz: Phys - Practise calculating the cost of electricity using then (20 mins) Chem – Create a flow chart showing how the composition of our Earths atmosphere has changed ( 20 mins) Describe causes and effects of global warming and acid rain (10 mins) Phys – Try some quizzes on multiples; simple circuits and series & parallel circuits: Chem – Describe Wegener's theory of continental drift, his evidence and why he wasn’t believed (10 mins) Make a table summarising what happens at each of the three plate boundaries (10 mins) Biol – Describe journey of red blood cell around the body as a sight seeing tour. Details of the points of interest. This might help: Big poster on photosynthesis. Equation, parts of the leaf, conditions required. Etc. Phys – Draw and label the key features of transverse and longitudinal waves, giving the definitions of the key features. (20 mins) Chem – Make a poster describing the 4 factors that affect the rate of a reaction and how they affect particles. (20 mins) Biol: Test on Digestion: HSW – test your evaluation skills Biology revision: Look over and use all the revision resources you have made. Use YouTube videos and BiteSize to fill in gaps! Also re-cap photosynthesis: HSW – LOOK, COVER, WRITE CHECK: Key scientific terms from Mon 11th June Tues 12th June Weds 13th June Thurs 14th June Fri 15th June Biology Exam 9:00 Chemistry revision Chemistry Exam Physics revision Physics Exam
