1 Warm Up, January 25th, 2017 1) List every resource of energy you know and list it as renewable or non-renewable. Try to do at least 7. 2) Pretend there is a soda machine at school. The soda machine is only filled once per year at the beginning of the year. How could we make the soda last longer in the machine (cannot refill)?

2 Renewable* Any source of energy that can be continually produced and is inexhaustible given current conditions. Non-Renewable* Any source of energy that exists in limited quantities and once used, cannot be replaced except over the course of millions of years.

3 Non-Renewable Resources*
Hydro Solar Wind Geothermal Biomass (causes CO2 emissions) Non-Renewable Resources* Oil Natural Gas Coal Nuclear (does not cause CO2 emissions)

4 Bill Nye - Energy

There’s a lot of different ENERGY SOURCES. EACH has its own INDUSTRY LOBBYISTS! RENEWABLE—replaces itself faster than we use it NON-RENEWABLE—we use it faster than it can be replaced. HYDRO (water) POWER WIND (air) SOLAR (sunlight) GEOTHERMAL COAL MINERALS OIL NATURAL GAS BIO-MASS TOPSOIL NUCLEAR

18 Divide up into your peer groups.
Each group is going to represent ONE ENERGY SOURCE.

19 Today, you will research what your energy source has the BEST to offer.
1 person leads research (all contribute)

1 person leads research (all contribute) 1 person records information (READABLE and understandable for audiences!) 1 person presents (lobbies) PERSUASIVELY! 1 person challenges other industry competitors. Today, your group researches the good of YOUR energy source, the bad parts of competitors’ energy, makes a decent record of info, and makes sure the presenter is rehearsed and prepared!

Today, your group researches the good of YOUR energy source, the bad parts of competitors’ energy, makes a decent power point of info and makes sure the presenter is rehearsed and prepared! Tuesday continue your research on computers and use your recorded info from today to make a PowerPoint, then we present to our Congress & VOTE on Wednesday.
