Sugar Act Taxed sugar, molasses, and other imported items. Some colonists refused to pay taxes. Stamp Act Taxed every piece of printed paper including newspapers, & playing cards. “No taxation without representation” Townshend Acts Taxed IMPORTED goods The Boston Massacre Tea Act Colonists could only buy tea from the East India Tea Company Boycott of tea & The Boston Tea Party (an act of civil disobedience) The Coercive (Intolerable) Acts Closed the Boston Harbor & prohibited colonial meetings Punishment for the Boston Tea Party First Continental Congress – sent a petition to the King to remind him of the colonists rights.
