New Mexico Cooperative Extension Service Large Animal Emergency Rescue Awareness Level When: April 10, am to 3pm Where: Quay County Fairgrounds 2000 Camino Coronado Tucumcari, NM Department of Homeland Security by April 1, 2019 Emergencies involving large animals are exceptionally dangerous to both humans and animals involved. First responders are often unfamiliar with handling large animals and require specialized training in animal behavior, best handling practices and rescue equipment. Participants will get real world experience handling large animals. They will master the practical application of large animal rescue equipment such as slings, rescue harnesses, glides, and learn how to build simple enclosure facilities. Partially funded under a sub-grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
