Engineering Mechanics
Is essentially a study of effects of forces acting on bodies. - Mechanics is that branch of physical science which considers the motion of bodies, with rest a special case of motion (external effect of system). - When the force system acting on a body is balanced the system has no external effect on the body, the body is in equilibrium, and the problem is statics. - When the force system has a resultant different from zero the body will by accelerated, and the problem is dynamics. - If there is no internal effect the body will be rigid bodies – no real body is absolutely rigid. - Some time the changes in shape of the body have a negligible effect and assumed a rigid bodies.
