2 What is a brand in the NSDL as it relates to resources?
A concept associated with the identity of Web sites or resource collections Resources belonging to web sites Web site owners Sets of metadata supplied by providers, “Metadata Collections” Metadata items belonging to collections Metadata providers, owners of collections Each Collection may have a single brand image associated with that Collection and its Items. If a Collection doesn't supply a brand image, the default NSDL brand image is used.

5 Current Practice Collections supplying item-level metadata may
Upload a brand image--maximun dimensions are 30 pixels tall And 100 pixels wide. Collection records in NSDL.org search results are not identified with a unique brand image. In order to distinguish them from item records they have an NSDL collections brand. Those item records associated with a collection display the unique image of their collection.

8 Future branding The number of textual or graphic sub-brands that could be associated with any content in the NSDL will be unlimited as the new content management system is implemented. Aggregators of NSDL resources are currently not required to display resource brands. How will users understand the significance of multiple brands In the user interface? As an indicator of quality? What are our shared concepts around resource identity concepts that will lead to requirements for a future NSDL branding system?
