Those who have left the faith often try to “convert” those who are still faithful. This lesson looks at some of the common errors of “de-conversion” and how the faithful can avoid them. 1 Timothy 4: Acts 20:30

Leave because of “legalism” (1 John 3:4, 7; 1:8; 5:18; 2:19, 26; 4:5-6; 2 Peter 2:18-19) Portray faithful Christians as dogmatic (2 Tim. 2:15; 1 John 2:21; 2 Peter 1:12)

Insist that your new position is Biblical (Matthew 19:4-5; 2 Thess. 2:13; Jude 3-4) Attack the character of your old group (2 Peter 2:1-2, 10)

Guarding Against De-conversion
Do not listen to the evangelists of de-conversion (Romans 16:17-18) 1 Consider the condition of those who have turned away (2 Peter 2:20) 2 Heed the warnings of the apostles (Jude 17-18) 3
