This Go Gold presentation contains notes to help guide you through the program details. As with any presentation, they shouldn’t be read to your audience. Take some time to review the notes and slides before your meeting and practice with the slides only, so you’re comfortable with the material. Use your own style and language.

2 Wake up from hibernation.

12 Log your daily exercise minutes or steps
Speaker Notes: The Fitbit™ is an optional component of Go Gold — if you choose not to offer it, omit this slide from your presentation. Explain to participants how they can log dedicated activity — tracking daily exercise minutes or steps. Once they choose steps or minutes, confirm that they can’t change their minds during the program. If they choose steps, they have the option of using a step counter or Fitbit wireless tracker. When they sync their Fitbit with their computer, it automatically loads their steps to their Go Gold account. Presentation Points: Log dedicated activity minutes or steps every day Fitbit tracks steps and records automatically online Strive for at least 30 minutes or 6000 steps a day NOTE: Although the Fitbit tracks steps, calories, and distance, steps is the only thing that counts in Go Gold.

19 The goal: 30-60 minutes or 6000-10,000 steps a day
Speaker Notes: With Go Gold’s simple logging tools, participants can easily track their progress, which helps reinforce habits. It takes just a few minutes a day, but is crucial feedback for continued success. Whether they choose weekly lunchtime walks or train for cross-country skiing excursions, the idea is to pick challenging goals — with a focus on objectives they can maintain for a lifetime. Those just starting out should begin with 30 minutes a day and gradually build up to the next level. Those who are already active should aim higher. Presentation Points: Set challenging goals that you can maintain long term When you log daily exercise minutes, you earn a medal: For minutes ( steps), bronze For minutes ( steps), silver For 60+ minutes (10,000+ steps), gold Any combination of bronze, silver, or gold counts toward your goal If you’re just starting out, shoot for 20 medals; if you’re already active, set your goal higher.

20 Join a team Speaker Notes: The team competition is an optional component of Go Gold — if you choose not to include it, omit this slide and the next from your presentation. While the team competition isn’t a requirement, team members tend to have greater success than those who go it alone. Presentation Points: Belonging to a team can help you stick to your goals Team members support and encourage each other Knowing your team is counting on you keeps you accountable and committed Competition with other groups is challenging and motivating A team consists of 4-10 members. Group of happy people in winter; should be obvious it’s a team

21 Or go it alone.

22 Build winning exercise habits…
Speaker Notes: The goal of the program is to develop sustainable fitness habits. Ideally, participants should exercise every day to reach that goal. But realistically, most will walk dedicated minutes (or steps) only 4-5 days a week. Emphasize the importance of aiming for a daily exercise routine and the associated benefits. Presentation Points: The only way for exercise to become a habit is if you commit to doing it every day Being active offers numerous health benefits, including: Reduced heart disease risk Decreased cancer risk More control over weight and blood glucose Greater emotional/psychological/mental well-being Less stress Slower aging process Improved mood Better sleep.

23 That last through winter — and beyond.
