2
Who is Satan? Ruler of the World 2) Prince of the power of the air
"Now judgment is upon this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.” John 12:31 2) Prince of the power of the air “…in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.” Eph. 2:2
3
Power of the Air “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Eph. 6:12

Who is Satan? 3) Prince of demons
“But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, "This man casts out demons only by Beelzebul the ruler of the demons.“ Matt. 12:24 4) god of this world “…in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Cor. 4:4
5
Who is Satan? 5) Deceiver of the world 6) Accuser of the Brethren
“And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.” Rev. 12:9 6) Accuser of the Brethren “Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night.” Rev. 12:10

Who is Satan? 7) The Adversary 8) The Tempter
“Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 8) The Tempter “For this reason, when I could endure it no longer, I also sent to find out about your faith, for fear that the tempter might have tempted you, and our labor would be in vain.” 1 Thess. 3:5

Who is Satan? 9) Father of lies & murder
"You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” John 8:44

Satan’s hostility revealed
Aggressive hostility against the Lord. 2) Aggressive hostility against the truth. 3) Aggressive hostility against believers.
9
Aggressive hostility against the Lord
In the garden Satan tempted Eve to believe his words rather than God’s word. Gen. 3:1-5 Tempted Christ to worship him. Matt. 4:1-11 Raises up counterfeit men of God. “For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.” 2 Cor. 11: 13-15 “Allow both to grow (wheat & tares) together until the harvest…” Matt. 13: 24-30

Aggressive hostility against the Lord
D) He will empower the Anti-Christ. “Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.” Thess. 2: 8-10 E) Satan’s desperate attack on Israel and the followers of Jesus. Rev. 12:13-17

Aggressive hostility against the Lord
“And when the dragon saw that he was thrown down to the earth, he persecuted the woman (Israel) who gave birth to the male child (Jesus). But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman, so that she could fly into the wilderness to her place, where she was nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. And the serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause her to be swept away with the flood. But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and drank up the river which the dragon poured out of his mouth. So the dragon was enraged with the woman, and went off to make war with the rest of her children (believers during the tribulation), who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus Rev. 12: 13-17

Aggressive hostility against the Truth
A) Blinds the mind’s of men. “And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Cor. 4:3-4 B) Snatching away the seed of the Word. "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is the one on whom seed was sown beside the road.” Matt. 13:19; Mark 4:15; Luke 8:12

Aggressive hostility against the Truth
C) Introduces deceitful doctrines. “But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons…” Tim. 4:1 D) Opposes righteousness. But Elymas the magician (for so his name is translated) was opposing them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. But Saul, who was also known as Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, fixed his gaze on him, and said, "You who are full of all deceit and fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease to make crooked the straight ways of the Lord? Acts 13: 8-10

Aggressive hostility against believers
Tempting in sin. “But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land?” Acts 5:3 “Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.” 1 Cor. 7:5
15
Aggressive hostility against believers
B) A sifter of mankind. "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded to sift you (all) like wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.“ Luke 22: 31-32 C) Creates disharmony in the Church

Aggressive hostility against believers
“But if any has caused sorrow, he has caused sorrow not to me, but in some degree -- in order not to say too much -- to all of you. Sufficient for such a one is this punishment which was inflicted by the majority, so that on the contrary you should rather forgive and comfort him, otherwise such a one might be overwhelmed by excessive sorrow. Wherefore I urge you to reaffirm your love for him. For to this end also I wrote, so that I might put you to the test, whether you are obedient in all things. But one whom you forgive anything, I forgive also; for indeed what I have forgiven, if I have forgiven anything, I did it for your sakes in the presence of Christ,so that no advantage would be taken of us by Satan, for we are not ignorant of his schemes.” Cor. 2: 5-11
17
Aggressive hostility against believers
D) Hindering their work for God. “For we wanted to come to you -- I, Paul, more than once -- and yet Satan hindered us.” 1 Thess. 2: 18 E) Accusing them falsely. “Then I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, "Now the salvation, and the power, and the kingdom of our God and the authority of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, he who accuses them before our God day and night.” Rev. 12:10
18
Aggressive hostility against believers
F) Instigating persecution against them. “Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.” Rev 2: 10
19
Satan’s schemes against the world
Attacks the minds of men with doubts, fears and propaganda. Assails the spirits of men with lust, pride and hatred. Assaults the bodies of men with disease, torture and death. Assails the institutions of men with structural evil. example – that of communism and Islamism. Michael Green “I believe in Satan’s Downfall”
20
Next Time We are told in scripture not to be ignorant of Satan’s schemes (2 Cor. 2:11) but to stand firm against him. (Eph. 6:11) How do we stand against Satan to withstand his attacks?
