13. Interesting Population Information:
The world’s population is currently growing by about 76 million people per year.
All of the world’s population growth in the next 40 years is expected to take place in developing countries.
The population of developed countries is expected to remain virtually unchanged between now and 2050, at about 1.2 billion.
In contrast, the population of the 50 least developed countries is projected to more than double.
Between now and 2050, the population is expected to triple in a number of developing countries, including Afghanistan, Burundi, Chad, Congo, Liberia, and Mali.
The population of 51 countries, including Germany, Italy and Japan is expected to be lower in 2050 than it is now.
