1 Who found out tonight’s moon phase?
Wednesday, February 4, 2015 Math Journal Prompt: Jill is planning to paint her bedroom. Her bedroom is rectangular that measures 12’ by 10’ and has 9’ ceilings. Explain how Jill would find the surface area of the walls of her bedroom. If a gallon of paint covers 40 ft, how many gallons of paint would Jill need to buy? Why? Who found out tonight’s moon phase? Don’t Forget, restate the question with your answer and justify it. 8:10 – 8:40

9 What is a metamorphic rock?
The term "metamorphic" means "to change form." Any rock (igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic) can become a metamorphic rock. If rocks are buried deep in the Earth at high temperatures and pressures, they form new minerals and textures all without melting. If melting occurs, magma is formed, starting the rock cycle all over again.

10 How are metamorphic rocks formed? Metamorphic Rocks Key Concept #1
extreme heat and/or pressure

11 Non-foliated Metamorphic Rocks
NON-FOLIATED metamorphic rocks do not display layers. Rather, they are massive structures with no obvious banding. The mineral grains grow and rearrange, but they don’t form layers. A good example of non-foliated rock is quartzite, the smooth-textured, metamorphosed form of the mineral quartz. A coarse-textured non-foliated rock is marble. Anthracite, or hard coal, is a non-foliated rock that forms when intense pressure drives gases out of soft coal, causing it to harden.
