Most one and two syllable adjectives follow the rules for the comparative and superlative forms. However, there is always and exception to every rule.

3 More Comparative and Superlative Adjectives
For most adjectives that have two or more syllables add the words more and most to form the comparative and superlative. Examples: difficult, more difficult, most difficult colorful, more colorful, most colorful

4 DO NOT DO NOT combine more and most with adjectives ending in er and est. This error is called a double comparative, as in Today is more warmer than yesterday. Example: Correct: Herons are larger than sea gulls. Incorrect: Herons are more larger than sea gulls.
