Adaptive regulation of aquatic resources and spaces
Contact: dr. Niko Soininen, twitter: niko_soininen, p Short description: Adaptive law is a conception of the law that facilitates resilience of socio-ecological systems. Resilience is often defined as a characteristic of a system (whether social, cultural, economic, ecologic, legal) that can respond – and has the capacity to adapt – to changing circumstances without losing its core functions. A resilient system facilitates transition from one functioning state of being to another. Dr. Soininen’s research group studies legal mechanisms facilitating resilience of aquatic socio-ecological systems. The main mechanisms of legal adaptivity under analysis are methods of legal interpretation (adjudicative adaptivity), and regulatory strategies such as adaptive planning and management (regulatory adaptivity).
