Background Fosters the development of common standards for RE in the APEC member economies. Facilitate renewable energy related trade and investment liberalization. Review and documentation of available standards for off-grid and grid-interactive renewable energy system applications in APEC member economies. May 11, 2004

Objective Development of harmonized standards for renewable energy
Growth in renewable energy businesses due to increased opportunities among APEC member economies Development of renewable energy technology and infrastructure due to greater access, lower cost as a result of economies of scale benefits, and expansion of the renewable energy market May 11, 2004

Contractor ISP (Institute for Sustainable Power), the US was selected to implement the project through competitive bidding. Two partners are: GSES(Global Sustainable Energy Solutions) from Australia and CREIA(Chinese Renewable Energy Industries Association) from China May 11, 2004

Summary of Recommendations
Scope limitation (e.g. Solar, Wind, and Biomass Structure The EGNRET establishes an APEC RE Standards Secretariat The Secretariat defines three priority technologies and three to five APEC economies in which to pilot the standard and harmonization The Secretariat identified subject matter experts for each of the three priority technology areas to constitute the Technical/Task Analysis Committees and appoint the chair of the committee May 11, 2004
