Anaerobic Processes -when oxygen is not available for cellular respiration, pyruvate undergoes anaerobic respiration -all anaerobic respiration only occurs outside of the mitochondria

Anaerobic Processes -in one process, NADH is used to break down pyruvate into lactic acid, which is the burning sensation that you can feel after a hard workout -note that only NAD is produced to be used again in glycolysis -occurs in animals; lactic acid is toxic

Anaerobic Processes -in another process, alcohol, CO2, and NAD are the product -the NAD is used to continue glycolysis -occurs in bacteria and yeast; alcohol is toxic
